‘FreeFest’ on Gallaudet University Campus March 31
To be highlight of QuestFest, the Visual Theatre Festival
The Gallaudet University campus will burst with energy with a special all day “FreeFest,” on Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Presented by Gallaudet and Quest Visual Theatre, FreeFest will be an open air festival of performances and fun activities for the whole family. This exciting fun day is part of QuestFest 2012, a four-week international visual theatre festival.
Have your face painted. Join Gallaudet art students in creating a chalk mural. Twirl and float fabric with Quest’s Wings Company. Taste great food from several of Washington’s famous food trucks or shop for crafts from area artisans. And here is the best part: Admission is free, the performances are free, and the activities are free.
The visual theatre performances at “FreeFest” will feature two remarkable performing groups from Catalonia, Spain – Los Caneca and Chez Leandre. Both companies are sponsored by the Ramon Illul Institute. Joining them will be one of the Washington area’s top visual theatre companies, Happenstance Theatre performing their delightful “Plunkett and Tremolo.” The Nana Project will be there as well to teach stilt-walking to anyone and everyone . Pittsburgh-based Dan Kamin will also perform his acclaimed Mr. Slo-Mo, and Drew the Dramatic Fool will be on hand for some tomfoolery.
The campus of Gallaudet University is located at 800 Florida Ave., N.E. in Washington, D.C.
